Faculty Position Announcement – Department of German Language and Literature
1. Field of Appointment
The Department of German Language and Literature at Sungkyunkwan University invites applications for a native German-speaking faculty member capable of teaching both German language and literature.
2. Qualifications
- Hold a Ph.D. in literature
- - Be a native speaker of German and capable of teaching graduate-level courses in German literature in German
- - Demonstrate a strong record of scholarly publications over the past five years
- - Be committed to excellence in student education and the use of innovative teaching methods
- - Be capable of teaching in English and supervising theses of international students
- - Have no disqualifications for appointment at private universities under applicable laws
3. Application Period and Method
- Application Period: April 15, 2025 – April 30, 2025 (by 6:00 PM KST)

4. Required Documents
- - A certificate of the highest degree earned
- - Curriculum Vitae with a photo and a list of at least three referees
- - List of research achievements
5. Recruitment Schedule
- - Application Deadline: April 30, 2025 (Wednesday), by 6:00 PM KST
- - First Screening (Document Review): By May 15, 2025 (Thursday)
- - Notification of First Screening Results: May 16, 2025 (Friday)
- * Individual notification and request for submission of teaching and research plans
- - Second Screening (Interview): During the 4th or 5th week of May 2025
- * Further procedures including a final interview with the university administration will be announced only to those who pass the second screening.
6. Additional Information
- - The university reserves the right not to hire if there is no qualified applicant.
- - Any false or misleading information in the application documents may result in cancellation of the appointment.
